چکیده

A new free-form deformation method is presented in this paper. The deformation of an object is achieved by attaching it to two parametric surfaces, namely the shape surface S u v ( , ) and the height surface H u v ( , ) . A control point or vertex of object is projected onto the shape surface along its normal and a correspondence between the point and its projection on the shape surface is established. The point is then embedded into the parametric space defined by the shape surface. By regarding the height surface as a displacement function, the directed distance from the sample point to its projection on the shape surface can be further adjusted. The proposed method is independent of the representation of underlying object. Experimental results show that the method is intuitive, easy to control and run fast. Keyword: free-form deformation, shape surface, height surface, B-spline surface

A new approach is described which provides deformation methods for multi-patch tensor based free-form surfaces. The surface deformation generated is controlled by global geometric constraints. For example, the objective can be to deform a free-form surface until it becomes tangent to a pre-defined plane at a given point. This point can be fixed or free to slide on the surface. The parametric de...

On Static Bending, Elastic Buckling and Free Vibration Analysis of Symmetric Functionally Graded Sandwich Beams

This article presents Navier type closed-form solutions for static bending, elastic buckling and free vibration analysis of symmetric functionally graded (FG) sandwich beams using a hyperbolic shear deformation theory. The beam has FG skins and isotropic core. Material properties of FG skins are varied through the thickness according to the power law distribution. The present theory accounts fo...

Tracking Medical 3D Data with a Deformable Parametric Model

We present a new approach to surface tracking applied to 3D medical data with a deformable model. It is based on a parametric model composed of a superquadric t followed by a Free-Form Deformation (FFD), that gives a compact representation of a set of points in a 3D image. We present three diierent approaches to track surfaces in a sequence of 3D cardiac images. From the tracking, we infer quan...

Static Flexure of Soft Core Sandwich Beams using Trigonometric Shear Deformation Theory

This study deals with the applications of a trigonometric shear deformation theory considering the effect of the transverse shear deformation on the static flexural analysis of the soft core sandwich beams. The theory gives realistic variation of the transverse shear stress through the thickness, and satisfies the transverse shear stress free conditions at the top and bottom surfaces of the bea...

3d Model Deformation along a Parametric Surface

Free-Form Deformation (FFD) is an efficient technique for editing the shapes of 3D models, and widely used in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), computer animation, computer graphics entertainment etc. The basic idea of some famous previous FFD approaches deforms a target 3D model by adjusting some control points of a 3D lattice surrounding the model. It is a tedious work, especially when the lattice...
